But ...Just In Case You're Curious...

After ‘sitting’ on / (dreaming about...) an internet, entertainment-portal concept that I’ve been developing for years now, I’ve come to the realization that I cannot possibly launch this huge YAHOO-like site (directed toward the entertainment / music / webcasting arena) strictly on my own. I came to the conclusion that this revolutionary idea / site would most certainly take a concerted effort by a team of devoted, forward-thinking, ‘freedom loving’, knowledgable, internet-savvy people that would be willing to face the challenge of literally changing the present, established, (struggling) business model of the broadcasting / webcasting industry. - Woah !!

Thus, I’ve made the decision to partially ‘unleash my copyright’, so to speak, regarding this concept, and thus, openly share this website portal idea that I’ve come up with - that I have called SURFERZRULE: A concept which could be labeled as a ‘permanent alteration’ (for the better, of course..) of the present, more-stifled-by-the-minute, music / webcasting industry. - Hey Folks, Calm Down !!

I envision that this website portal idea called SurferzRule, or, somebody else's, 'similar-to-SurferzRule' concept - WILL be the ONLY viable alternative for webcasters / struggling talents, which will address and FIX the stifling Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panel (CARP) situation - that was initially created and released on February 20th, 2002, Should CARP 'get it's way...partially, or wholly, it will have a devastating effect on Internet radio, which, until the CARP introduction - was considered the new, exciting form of music-delivery / discovery avenue - that millions of Americans (including myself) have quickly come to cherish.

Without creating a 10,000 word essay here, I’d like to invite you to read this text-based description of the future, virtual, ‘SURFERZRULE 'E' WORLD’ as I envision it evolving, should an exuberant, forward-thinking team / venture capitalist - be open-minded / dedicated enough to recognize the potential of the idea and thus....develop it . . IN A NUTSHELL: SurferzRule is..

WHAT: An interactive, one-stop world wide site for all forms of media content and all kinds of performers, shows and stations.

HOW: Media content and performers are divided into categories which are placed in theme-based environments that can be previewed on-demand. Amateur or professional producers can pluck content and/or performers on SurferzRule to create 30-minute shows or actual web-cast stations.

HOOK:
Real-time ratings monitor all content - which creates performer and user incentives. Votes for the best as well as the worst result in contests, prizes and a hierarchal "Best of Breed" chain of success that keeps the site continually fresh and suspenseful.

HOSTS: Iconoclastic cartoon type characters host SurferzRule and assist newcomers in navigating the site.

BIG BREAK: Amateur or professional hybrid of Producer/Program-Director creates shows or actual stations from the SurferzRule site. These shows or stations can be syndicated to other Internet sites or back-doored to traditional televison, record companies or movie studios.

REVENUES: Income stream is derived from advertising, e-commerce, and content exhibition fees. What just about everybody has asked me regarding this ‘new, revolutionary answer’ to the threat of (CARP-related) performance fees on internet (webcasting) radio is: “How can SurferzRule help / avoid this CARP threat?”.

- The bad news is:
Those webcasters who elect to continue to webcast record-company affiliated artists with protected, copyrighted material are out of luck - that is, if they wish to affiliate with SurferzRule. Webcasters who choose the 'business as usual' road will have chosen to remain in ‘the real, but quickly-fading, traditional webcasting world’, and continue to play / pay-for the CARP game - whatever the cost.

- The good news will be:
WHEN SurferzRule gets up and running, and literally becomes THE universally-accepted / trusted website-portal for all to discover / launch / debut new talent, it is my absolute belief that the new talent will be more than happy to sign a (temporary) exclusive (copyright-bypass) agreement with SurferzRule,

... where SurferzRule will create what they call an in-house’ copyright-protection agreement, which is envisioned to protect the artist from the threat of out-and-out plagiarism, but this agreement is acting as a replacement for conventional copyright protection, and thus will require that the artist temporarily ‘sign off’ on the mandatory performer/ producer revenues he/she would normally receive (as is the rule in ‘the real CARP-invaded world’) until such time as the (successful, SurferzRule) artist ‘graduates’ from the SurferzRule fresh-talent-launching site, and has proven that he/she is a voter/ hits validated SUPERSTAR (in the SurferzRule domain). With that credential behind the 'STAR', the real world of Record Companies and Traditional Radio is envisioned to be literally BANGING on the newly-established STAR'S door for recording contracts and traditional radio airplay. This newly-attained status for the star also allows him/her to join the 'real world' and participate within the “CARP CONTROLLED” (..gulp) legal domain, - that is, *IF he/she chooses to...& *if terrestrial 'music radio' is still broadcasting...& hasn't been over-run by SurferzRule(d) webcasting by the year 2006, or sooner...(?) .
- Sound complicated? - Sorry, There IS No Choice Here..This is the new business model / success-path for up-&-coming artists - & for webcasters who want to be part of the new paradigm AND EASILY pay the rent as well.
